Mr. Kurt Loewenstein (Tel Aviv), who died at the age of 71, was a member of that generation of German Jewish publicists who combined their deeply rooted Zionist convictions with a wide humanitarian outlook.
Originating from the Jewish youth movement he worked, under Dr. Robert Weltsch, on the editorial staff of the Juedische Rundschau from 1933 until all Jewish periodicals were prohibited in 1938
A B O U T
This Web site is dedicated to our late grandfather Kurt Loewenstein, born in Germany in 1902 and died in Israel in 1973.
During the 30's in Berlin Kurt was a journalist in "Juedische Rundschau" till was forced to leave Germany in late 1938 together with his wife Hanna and daughter Miriam.
In Israel he continued his work in "MB" - The weekly Journal of the Association of German Jews in Israel. In his last years he worked on a book about Thomas Mann and the Jewish question ("Thomas Mann zur Juedischen Frage - Analyse von Werk und Leben - Eine Spiegelung des deutschen Judenproblems") following comprehensive research . He did not finish the book however he left the original manuscript (last draft 1973).
You can download the full manuscript from the "Thomas Mann" section in this website.
If someone volunteers also to transalate the manuscript from German to English and to be published on this website, this will be highly appreciated.
